May the 15th is celebrated throughout Spain as Family Day. The family is one of the main pillars of society; it’s the key to children's upbringing and personality formation from the day they are born until they grow up. It is therefore very important to celebrate this day and raise awareness that promoting family ties creates a stronger society, with more politeness and respect, civic behaviour, freedom and tolerance.

Launched by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993, it is an official celebration that is marked internationally. This festival reminds us that, whilst the family model has now evolved to be much more flexible and diverse, it is still very much a valid, fundamental and basic concept.
