What is the tourist tax?
This is to inform our guests of the Tourist Tax, passed by the Balearic Government, which is charged since 2016. It is payable by those persons staying in regulated accommodation establishments, including residents of the Balearic Islands. It will consist of a payment of between 1 and 2 euros per day (plus 10% VAT), depending on the establishment category, by guests aged 16 and over.   

-5-star and 4-star superior hotels: between 1€ and 4€ / per day / per person over 16 (+10% VAT).

- 4-star and 3-star superior hotels: between 0.75€ and 4€ / per day / per person over 16 (+10% VAT).

As a result, and as we are required to pay this tax to the Balearic Island Tax Authorities, you are hereby informed that pursuant to the legislation in effect, we will ask you to settle payment of the tax prior to the end of your stay. 

Revenue from this tax will be used to create a fund for the promotion of sustainable tourism. The objective is to finance projects that will contribute to boosting sustainable, responsible and quality tourism.

Are transfers between the airport and the hotels included?

We do not offer transfers between the airport and the hotels. However, we recommend two companies which do. You can find their details on our homepage or contact them directly at this link:

Upon arrival, can I pay with a different card from the card used for the booking guarantee?

If you are not paying in advance when booking, you will only be asked for your card details as a booking guarantee. When you arrive at the hotel, you do not need to pay with the same credit card as the one used to make the booking. We accept: Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express.

What if I contract the non-refundable rate?

The hotel will charge 100% of the reservation at the time it is made. Non-refundable in case of cancellation, modification or no show

You can pay by cash or by card

When does the booking have to be paid for? How can payment be made?

In general, unless the specific room rate stipulates otherwise, you will be asked for card details as a booking guarantee only, at the time of booking. These card details will only be used in the event of late cancellation or “no-show” (non-arrival).

Payment for your stay will be made at the reception on the day you arrive. You can pay by cash or credit card. We accept the following cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners.

Can the booking be paid for prior to arrival?

Yes. You can contact our booking centre and they will explain the various options for paying for your bookings prior to arrival. You can email or call 0049 08001 132244.

What are the reception opening times? What time is check-in? What time is check-out?

Hotels VIVA receptions are open 24 hours a day.
You can check in from 2.00pm onwards. On the day of departure, your room must be vacated by 12 noon.

Are swimming pool/beach towels provided?

The hotels have swimming pool/beach towels available for your use. They are changed three times a week.

Are the swimming pools fresh water or sea water pools?

All Hotels VIVA swimming pools are fresh water pools.

Do you provide gluten-free foods? Is there an extra charge?

There are no extra charges for food for people with coeliac disease. If you have an allergy to gluten or any other food, please inform the waiter so that you can be offered an alternative.

What is the difference between Half Board and Half Board Plus?

VIVA Cala Mesquida Resort & Spa offers the Half Board Plus option, which includes breakfast and evening meal. drinks are included with the evening meal.

I looked at prices yesterday and today they are not the same. What has happened?

The prices on the website are constantly changing according to the rooms we have available at any given time. We therefore recommend that you make the booking if you find a price attractive.

What does “Best price guaranteed” mean?

If within 24 hours of making your booking on, you find a lower rate* on another website, call us on 0049 08001 132244 or email us at, and provide us with the link confirming the price difference. After checking the rate, we will alter your booking price straight away.

* This guarantee only applies when the conditions of the other website are the same in terms of arrival and departure dates, number of rooms, number of guests, type of room, meal and same rate option (as well as taxes).
