Elisabeth Blue - 12/24/18

The island of Mallorca is one of the top destinations to visit for sports holidays. And it’s no wonder: the climate, the water (perfect for doing water sports), the roads and trails for cycling and hiking, etc. There are many reasons why Mallorca is a top destination for athletes!

Today, we give you 10 tips on how to enjoy a wonderful sports holidays in Mallorca. Here they are!

Don’t miss the fantastic hiking routes!

So that you make the most of the incredible routes you can enjoy on the island, we recommend our “Special Excursions in Mallorca and where you can choose between three fantastic routes. Or just do all three!

- Cala Mesquida Route, from Cala Mesquida going through Talaia Son Jaumell, Cala Moltó and Collado Sa Marina.

- Alcudia Route, from Port Pollença to Cala Sant Vicenç

- Muro Beach Route, from Carrer Passeig de Bateman going along Muro Beach to S’Albufera

They are all fantastic! Put your trainers on and get ready, the island of Mallorca is waiting for you!

Check out the sea’s conditions... and get surfing!

You can dive into the sea just about anywhere on the island and do water sports: snorkel, surfing, and pedalos. At Cala Mesquida, the waves are perfect for surfing lovers, and the best place to stay is VIVA Cala Mesquida Resort & Spa, right beside this great beach. You can also enjoy the fantastic sports facilities and the Balneum zone for relaxation.

Attend events for cyclists

If cycling is your thing, you’re in luck. Mallorca is the top destination for cyclotourism. And it’s no wonder, as almost half the 1250 km of roads are prepared for cycling. In addition, the island holds many events attended by the sport's true enthusiasts. For example, The Mallorca Cycling Challenge and the cycling race Mallorca 312 (which Hotels VIVA is the official hotel chain for).

Hire your bike and gear

At Hotels VIVA you have everything you need to hire, buy or repair the gear you use on your bike routes. At VIVA Blue & Spa, there is one of the most modern cycling stations on the island, with a comprehensive stock of bicycles, equipped with locking systems and video surveillance. While at the VIVA Sunrise hotel, we also find a complete cycling station, for hiring a bike if you haven’t travelled with one, a zone for cleaning it, and a shop with Cannondale and Specialized products. As far as Vanity Golf is concerned, it has a stock of bicycles with video surveillance; a workshop space, as well as water and picnics available for cyclists.

There's also a spot for your bicycle at VIVA Eden Lago, since we have a bicycle station which includes a healthy snack for your trips around the island, sports drinks, mineral water and minor repairs.

We also have in place a spare parts shop operated by Philip’s Bike Team. Who wouldn’t like to be a bicycle at Hotels VIVA!

Discover the incredible golf courses

In Mallorca there are 22 golf courses, the sunshine and Mediterranean conditions have made Mallorca an ideal destination for playing golf. The clubs offer top-quality service.

Close to our Vanity Golf and VIVA Cala Mesquida Resort & Spa, we have some of the best golf courses on the island such as Capdepera Golf, the Alcanada golf club and the Golf Canyamel golf course.

If you truly love golf... Look for specialised hotels!

At Hotels VIVA we offer personalised service for golfers. Through our team of specialists (also golfers who know the courses) you can handle your green fee, hire professional clubs, receive advice on which is the best course for you according to your handicap, and any other questions, so that when you get there everything has been dealt with and you only have to worry about getting the ball into the hole in the fewest number of strokes. You can get in touch with them on our Golf website. What are you waiting for?

Have fun with this trendy sport: the triathlon

The triathlon is an Olympic sport which consists of three sporting disciplines: swimming, cycling and a race. So those who start doing this sport choose places bringing together the three disciplines that comprise it. Mallorca is designed for this throughout the year, both for beginners and more experienced athletes.

Choose where to stay and experience triathlons up close

If you love the sport, we invite you to discover our VIVA Blue & Spa hotel, a hotel specialising in triathlons where Mario Mola and other first-rate triathletes train extensively. If you decide to stay here, you will discover what it feels like to have specialised triathlon services at your hotel. In the following point we'll tell you a little more...

Choose the right place to train

This is nothing new: to practise sport you have to train. VIVA Blue & Spa features a fully equipped gym, with large and modern sports facilities so you can train like a champion. It also has a 24 hour gym open every day, a multi-sports court, a semi-olympic swimming pool and specific facilities for triathletes, cyclists and swimmers. What else could you ask for?

After a good training session... It’s time to relax!

Before or after a good walk or bike ride, it’s time to relax. Making the most of the Vanity Suite & Spa’s Balneum Spa is the best. What does it have? A sauna, jacuzzi, spa, revitalising massages, etc. Everything prepared for relaxation and beauty. A world of sensations, so you can leave the stress behind after your sport session.
