VIVA RECOMIENDA: Cala Galdana - Tumbet – Cossiers
admin - 7/20/16

VIVA RECOMMENDS: Cala Galdana - Tumbet - Cossiers

To recommend activities in summertime is much easier. Many towns celebrate their festivities and propose funny plans, gastronomy also takes a turn towards the refreshing ... and if we talk about getting fresh we can also recommend coves and beaches you might not know.

We start with Cala Galdana in Menorca. It is one of the largest on the island and one of the most equipped. For this reason is the most choosen for those traveling with children, because there are so many things to do on this beach that keeps them distracted all day: shops, kiosks, beach bars, sunbeds ... If you like water activities in Cala Galdana you can ride in the 'pencil', paragliding or rent a pedal boat. It is a very complete beach.

And if the beach has opened our appetite here we have the Tumbet, one of the star summer dishes. It is made with seasonal ingredients: eggplant, red pepper, potato and zucchini. All chopped, fried and covered with a tomato sauce becomes the perfect summer side dish for any meat or fish. Order it in any restaurant, you will like.

And to offer the cultural note to our recommendation, we have to situate in Algaida, Mallorca. There, every 24 of July (and the next morning, Sant Jaume) the cossiers have been dancing over centuries. Six men, a lady and a devil, dressed in colorful and unique costumes, dancing to the tune of the flabiols and tambourines representing the triumph of good over evil. It is one of the most deeply rooted traditions in the Majorcan society, you can also enjoy this show in Pollença or Montuïri, but there they dance for St. Bartholomew in August.

We hope you enjoy these plans!
