The best Valentine’s Day present: A romantic getaway
Elisabeth Blue - 2/9/21

In the month of February love is in the air! February 14th is a great day to surprise your partner with some original ideas and gifts for Valentine's Day to show your love for them. Although this year it’ll be difficult to celebrate in a big way, that doesn’t mean you can’t come up with an original and beautiful Valentine's Day gift.

A very popular gift for Valentine's Day is a romantic getaway to Mallorca and, although we still don’t know when air travel will return to normal, it’s a great gift to have up your sleeve for the future - to give yourselves a well-deserved break after this difficult year that we’ve all lived through. So, why not plan a getaway with your partner to surprise them on Valentine's Day?

The most romantic activities for your Valentine’s getaway

It doesn’t matter when you actually take the trip, you can still start planning some amazing activities to enjoy as a couple. After all, planning the trip is half the fun!

When it comes to Valentine's Day activities, what better way to celebrate your love than by enjoying a romantic sunset with your partner? In Mallorca, there are so many places where you can enjoy an amazing panoramic view of the sunset or sunrise, such as El Mirador de sa Foradada, the popular Torre de ses Ànimes in Banyalbufar or the Mirador de mal Pas in Cap Formentor. This is a great way to either start or end Valentine's Day in the most romantic way possible.

Another great activity for your Valentine's Day getaway is to stroll around Palma de Mallorca, enjoying a pleasant tour of the city's historic quarters. You can also visit the old fishermen's quarter of Santa Catalina, which has become one of Palma's most fashionable districts, and which has an old market and several cafés and restaurants - ideal for a romantic dinner, and a must for Valentine's Day!

You shouldn’t miss the lovely walks through the Mallorcan countryside, either on foot or on horseback. You can even spend the night at a campsite if you’re looking for an adventurous Valentine's Day getaway. In the area that forms part of the Parc Natural de Llevant, there’s a campsite located next to the beach at s'Arenalet des Verger. It’s open all year round, except in January, and can only house a few people, which will make your Valentine's Day stay there even cosier.

If you're travelling in warmer climes, then walks along the beach hand in hand are a must on your romantic getaway. To make this a truly unique and special experience, a nice touch for Valentine's Day is to bring a basket with some snacks and a blanket to snuggle up together while you watch the sea and the sunset. This is one of the most original gifts for couples – why not surprise your lover and create some very special moments with some of their favourite food?

Gifts and ideas for Valentine’s Day

If you surprise your partner with a Valentine's Day getaway to Mallorca, then you mustn’t miss out on the island's varied local and international cuisine. A romantic dinner is one of the best original Valentine's Day gifts for you both to enjoy. All over the island you’ll find a great variety of restaurants offering the best gastronomy and local food, and, of course, a refreshing glass of cava or local wine.

For wine lovers, a really original gift for couples would be a wine tasting session to discover Mallorca’s Denomination of Origin varieties and flavours. You can also buy a bottle (or two!) to take back with you as a souvenir of your romantic getaway and then relive your experiences over dinner at home.

And, of course, what could be a more original Valentine's Day gift than a spa session? Although it's a bit difficult to enjoy a relaxing spa right now, whenever you’re able to visit Mallorca you'll find plenty of hotels offering this luxury service. One of the most popular is our Hotel VIVA Suites & Spa, an adults-only complex in a dream setting in Cala Mesquida. There you can enjoy massages for couples, an assortment of swimming pools, a sauna, water massages, and the peace and quiet of a child-free environment. We'll be looking forward to welcoming you when all this is over!

A Valentine's Day getaway is an ideal romantic gift for couples who enjoy discovering new places together. A truly original gift, which will keep the flame of love burning bright. What are you waiting for to plan that perfect Valentine's getaway?
