Hotels Viva recomienda…

Hotels Viva recommends… Cala Sant Vicenç, the Lluc Monastery and the “variat mallorquí”

Once again, summer has arrived with energy to the Balearic Islands. High temperatures, lots of plans and, above all, a particular light that bathes every corner of the islands, so the charm and beauty of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera are even more visible in the month of August. Therefore, as each month from Hotels Viva we want to recommend you three things that will fill your stay at our hotels in Mallorca and Menorca with unforgettable moments, all of them illuminated by the Mediterranean summer.

Of all the beaches in Mallorca, Cala Sant Vicenç is the one that may even be considered that is perfect. Its turquoise waters are surrounded by an extraordinary landscape of green tones, with high cliffs and the imposing presence of the Sierra del Cavall Bernat, jutting into the Mediterranean in Cala de Sant Vicenç. In this area you will also find different parking areas, several bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a summer lunch as well 2118522as areas of sand and stones. Every summer, spending a day at Cala Sant Vicenç becomes one of the favorite plans of Mallorcan inhabitants that want to spend a day at the beach and enjoying one of the most unique landscapes of the island and being confortable at it.

And it might be strange, but the Mallorcan inhabitants don’t spend all day on the beach and it’s not all beaches in Mallorca, because, as every month, we also want to recommend a visit to a charming place where you can meet the purest tradition of the islands. This time we talk you about the Lluc Monastery, the most charming place of pilgrimage of Mallorca. Every year thousands of people go walking to Lluc with the tradicional des Güell a Llluc walk. Llucis the first Marian shrine of the island and it is considered “a sacred grove of prehistory”. And the Lluc environment makes that not only the facilities and buildings of the monastery are full od deep spirituality but also the surroundings. Also, hearing the Blavets de Lluc chorus and walking through the Pujol dels Misteris, with sculptures by Josep Llimona, are just unmissable experiences.

But if you're looking for an equally impressive but purely earthly experience, nothing like a good session of Majorcan cuisine to contact earthly pleasures. And with the Majorcan variat you don’t have to choose between different dishes because it is an assortment of delicious tapas which will allow you to taste the contrasts of Mediterranean cuisine: the delicious pica pica made with cuttlefish with onion and tomato, fried lamb or seafood, croquettes, mushrooms, meatballs with sauce, cod fritters, fried cauliflower, even omelette or Russian salad are a part of this meal which can be enjoyed anytime. Our recommendation is to take it as an appetizer with a vermut in the square of any of the surrounding villages of the Serra de Tramuntana.

A beach, a sanctuary and a traditional tapas meal are the three dishes of this menu of recommendations that will fill the stomach, spirit and above all the expectations during your stay in our hotels.
