A pasar unas vacaciones inolvidables.

¡Muchas gracias Marco!

The season is about to finish at many of our hotels in Mallorca and Menorca and after a summer of high temperatures and a lot of fun, we talk to Marco Heitinga, director of Viva Palmanova & Spa, about how it has been this summer in the hotel.

Marco, what day the season began and what day is it going to end?
The opening of this year's Viva Palmanova was the January 23rd and it will be closing on October 31st. It is one of the hotels in the chainthat is  usually open during most months of the year.
How many people do you calculate that have gone through the hotel during these months?
This season we have had around 15,600 customers, staying an average of 7.8 days in the hotel, which is a total of more than 122.000 overnight stays.

What' was new in the hotel this year?
This year we have not had many novelties in the hotel as in recent seasons we have had many such as the Royal Superior terraces in 24 of the rooms, a wellness center and a Spa and our new gym with spectacular views pool. This winter, however it is expected a complete renovation of all rooms in the hotel. Customers of Viva & Vanity Hotels are already being used to find something new almost every year they return to their favorite hotel.
What activities or events have taken place at the hotel during these months?
Being a family hotel with animation, every day is full of activities for both adults and children. Our animation team ensures that our guests do not get bored at any time. While relaxation is also guaranteed for those who seek it, for example in our wellness center or pool Chillout (exclusively for adults).

What were the excursions or visits most successful recent months?
An excursion with much acceptance is organized by the animation team every week with children Kathmandu hotel. It is just 300 meters away and offers plenty of activities for kids of all ages. While children enjoy a morning of fun with our animators, parents take the opportunity to go shopping in the area or relaxing in the hotel pools.Marco 1

Tell us about the services you offer at the hotel ...
Viva Palmanova hotel, like most hotels Viva & Vanity offers varied facilities. Our intention is to provide services and facilities to a wide range of customers. While it is true that our specialty is family vacation with Splash pools with pirate ship (with slides) in almost all Viva Hotels and very complete animation program for all ages hotels also have facilities specially designed for hotels Adults and Wellness and Spa centers and Chill Out Poolst. We also offer facilities for sports such as bike shops and gyms. Many athletes choose our hotels for their pre-season concentrations in low season.
The cuisine is of a very high standard with many fresh products, live cooking and theme buffets and "special" daily. Many customers come in "Half Board" or "All Inclusive". We offer an all inclusive service with a lot of quality with the chance to eat "a la carte" at noon and it includes a wide choice of premium drinks, all served at the table (except the buffet food, of course)

How many people have been working at the hotel this season?
In high season we have about 100 people working at the hotel. The largest departments are those of Cleaning and Restoration.

Do you already know the novelties for next year?
For this winter renovating all the bathrooms of the rooms and changing furnishings and decor is scheduled. Hotels in Vivaestamos constantly thinking about improving our facilities and are usually spend many years between an upgrade and another. All this in order to always exceed the expectations of our guests and keep one step ahead of our competitors.

What is your job throughout the season, how you are every day?
Our main task as hotel Director is to ensure that the product received by our guests is of the highest quality in order to achieve the highest rate of satisfaction possible. Only then can we get our repeat guests at our hotels and speak well of us with family, friends and social networks.

In practice this makes our workday is very varied... Achieving the highest quality requires a daily monitoring of all facilities and services offered; daily control of the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms, quality control of Buffets before, during and after the services... We are in daily contact with our department heads to coordinate the smooth running of a department ed.

We are also available to customers to help them solving any problems they may have or just to hear their opinions and suggestions. We have to be aware of occupations, income and expenses on a daily basis to respond to all sorts of deviations that may presentar. The budget shows us the way to go, but the day a day at the hotel forces us to constantly adapt to reality.

We are responsible for the implementation of our Quality and Environment plan and executation, implemented throughout the chain.

All this would not be possible without the advice and support of our headquarters, where we mark the way forward, develop manuals, and choose and train our team and are in constant contact with the Heads of Departments and Directors on the one hand, and the Operational management and ownership on the other hand, to ensure consistently high quality in the service provided within the hotels.

As we are a part of a chain formed by more than 20 hotels some departments are fully centralized such as: Administration, Personnel, IT, Purchasing, Sales Department, Marketing Department and Legal..

They also coordinate from the central office different operating departments through coordinators such as reception, bars, Cooking, Entertainment, Gardening, Maintenance and Wellness Centers.

Operating direction is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the operations of all hotels.
Since the month of September to mid-November another of our responsibilities is the preparation of the annual budget for the coming season. Budgeting also involves several departments of our plant.

After having "polished" for weeks with the Directorate of Operations, the budget is presented to the property for approval.

Within the hotel every day is different...We kind of live in a huge house with about 200 rooms and some 600 people, sometimes more than 200 of them children. Not surprisingly unexpected things happen every day, many of them funny and some not so much. Guests sonde many different countries, each with their customs and peculiarities, but all with a common goal. A unforgettable vacation. And we have to make it so.

And we are not only responsible for the well being of our guests and our staff, we are also aware of their safety and health. Having so many people in a space like a hotel with many pools, jacuzzis, playgrounds, and consuming food and drinks throughout the day at the high temperatures that characterize Mallorca in the summer, it is clear that many things can go wrong. Fortunately, good facilities and daily control of all possible sources of danger allows us to avoid the risk to a minimum.

It is a big responsibility that makes us have to strive every day and every customer, from the opening day until the day of closing, but that gives us great satisfaction every time we did it. Luckily (and especially by the efforts of our employees) many guests leave our hotel satisfied and return year after year.
So as our customers and the rest of the staff, the management of hotels in HotelsViva not be bored.

Thank you Marco!
