What you’ll find in the water represents a unique, unbeatable beauty, completely different to what you’ll see on the surface.

The island of Mallorca is also perfect for diving and snorkelling (floating face down on the surface of the water using a transparent mask and breathing tube), for many good reasons:

• Calm water without tides and with few currents. These are three characteristics that allow for truly incredible days of snorkelling.
• Enviable geology formed by limestone which has given rise to endless caves, grottos and tunnels of all shapes and sizes. If that wasn’t enough, the bottom is tiered with gradual slopes and plenty of ledges at different depths. The result is one of the best possible underwater landscapes.
• The marine flora and fauna we can find in Mallorca is of exceptional diversity and interest.

The best spots for diving in Alcudia

The north of Mallorca and the bay between Alcudia and Pollensa in particular, is a very privileged area for diving. Whether or not you’re an experienced diver, there’s something for you, as there are areas perfect for all tastes and abilities. The diving clubs and specialist companies with monitors are endless and organise everything in order to ensure your diving baptism and your future dives are a simply fantastic experience, combining pleasure and safety.

We’ve selected the following spots where you can enjoy diving in this unique area:

Isla del Sec

Located in the Bay of Palma, this area is perfect for divers of all abilities. It’s made up of two shipwrecks, one of which is 25m long and the other 18m. Once immersed, you’ll capture its diverse marine life: barracudas, morays, octopuses, salps, sea bass, nudibranchs and even damselfish. It’s well known because it’s home to sunken fishing boats, which many species have made their home. To dive here you’ll need to travel by boat, as the islet is a long way from the coast.

Cueva de la Santa

This area is known for its underwater tunnels, which will make your diving experience an unforgettable adventure. It’s made up of two very well-known diving areas: The Casa de la Santa with its rocky areas and the ‘Queso Suizo’ (Swiss Cheese), with a huge number of interconnected tunnels. Its maximum depth is 23m and it’s located between Alcudia and the Port of Pollença.

Es Faralló or “The Big Cheese”

Located in Cala Ratjada, its maximum depth is 30m. It’s also known as the Big Cheese as it’s a rocky island perforated by numerous tunnels and holes. Its clear waters make it the perfect spot for diving and very nearby you’ll find the Sa Bassa Blanca natural cave with almost 500m of galleries.
