In the far north of Mallorca the land meets the sea in a place of spectacular beauty: the Cabo de Formentor. This consists of a small peninsula where the Sierra Tramontana runs down to the paradise of the Mediterranean Sea.

You can’t leave Mallorca without visiting the look-out point at El Colomer, which boasts the best views on the whole island. It’s truly spectacular! If you leave your bicycle and ascend the steps you’ll find an iron handrail famous for its romantic padlocks, so if you go with your loved one you can affix your padlock with your names to lock your love in place for ever. Ideal!

3- Alcudia

Touring Alcudia by bike is superb. Gothic churches, small tapas bars and Arabic constructions are preserved to this day in numerous buildings in the old town.

In the harbour, dazzling yachts bob about on the turquoise-coloured waters, and the jetties buzz with the life of the bars and visitors. The beaches beckon with their fine sand, perfect for swimming, sunbathing and relaxing in Alcudia bay.

You can explore Alcudia by taking three different cycling routes. For the first you go in the direction of Es Barcarès, just to the north of the town; the sea will accompany you on your journey while you feel the breeze on your face. The second destination is La Victòria, with ascents that require you to be in good physical shape, but which are more than made up for by the coves of the area and the s´Atalia viewing point almost at the end of the route. And finally you can head off for the idyllic bay of Coll Baix, a hidden paradise in the middle of unspoilt nature. Whichever one you choose the experience is sure to be unique!

4- Calvià

Far removed from the region’s coastal centres is the picturesque village of Calvià. You won’t be immune from its charms! Its wealth of culture stands in contrast to its modern amenities. Without a doubt a place to immerse yourself!

Its location is ideal for exploring the nearby tourist attractions by bike: Andratx and Puerto Portals are both just a few minutes away. Andratx, which has inspired numerous artists and writers beguiled by its charm, is well worth a visit, while Puerto Portals is one of the island’s most elegant places, with its luxurious yachts, outstanding restaurants and well-known brands.

5- San Lorenzo de Cardessar

An ideal town for exploring by bicycle. Whether you’re a professional or a keen enthusiast you’ll be able to get there by bike with no problem at all owing to the fact that there are different levels of difficulty. What could be better?

On the first route, which is just 2 km long, you’ll be able to discover such marvellous places as the monastery and the house of Salvador Galmés.  Another road is the 7 km stretch that separates Son Carrió from Sant Llorenç via Son Vives; you’ll feel the freedom of being immersed in nature while soaking up the spectacular panoramas. And finally if you’re a professional and you want to go flat out, there’s a 20 km-route that includes unforgettable landscapes and will astonish you with the stunning mountains that embrace the archipelago’s largest island. Unbeatable!

6- Muro

An excellent place to discover with your bike. From the northern part you can visit such places as Santa Margalida, sa Pobla, Can Picafort and María de la Salut, tackling touring routes of medium levels of difficulty and with distances ranging from 5 - 11 km, depending on the destination you choose.

To get to Can Picafort you have to go through the natural area of s´Albufera, which boasts a rich variety of flora and fauna. This is a protected space, so you’ll need to follow the directions provided by the signposts and arrows. Believe me, this is not a route that you’ll regret!

7- Cala Agulla

The ideal place to end any bike ride and to relax on the beach. You’ll feel as though transported to another world, and the best thing of all is that you´ll be able put the hurly burly behind you, and take the nudist option if that appeals.  The white sand, the crystal-clear water and a natural setting make the Cala Agulla a unique place. Its gradients are not particularly challenging, and is virtually without obstacles, being blessed by an idyllic setting.
