Caldereta de langosta en Menorca
admin - 9/27/16

Lobster stew in Menorca

What is it?

The relic of the natural landscape that gives Menorca has made a historicic tradition the word at sea and in the land. So, before the tourist boom, most coastal towns were fisher villages. Today we talk about the main product of the island, which lies exactly between the beautiful beaches: Red Lobster. It is an exquisite crustacean which is catch in a traditional way, although the activity is controlled. To know if the lobsters are fresh you have to catch them by the antennas and they have to have energy to be the best.

How to cook it?

From red lobster is cooked the more typical dish of Menorca: lobster stew. To cook the lobster should be cut alive with the help of a good knife. The delicious crustacean has very properties inside. The lobster should be cook in a typical mud cop. Before putting the lobster, we will have made a stir-fry vegetable. The secret lies in the quality of the lobster, a good stir-fry vegetable and the special touch of each chef. In conclusion, if you want to know all the secrets of this dish consult this link and dare to cook!

Where to eat it?

The lobster stew is a typical dish of the whole island but originally was created in the village Es Fornells to feed the fishermen. Now, given the popularity of this dish among tourists, the lobster stew has become a refined dish that is paid with high price in restaurants. We recommend the restaurants that are in Fornell’s port as Es Port restaurant (Paseo Maritim Gumersind Riera 5).
