Capdepera, a gem in the northwest of the island

This fantastic rural spot in the northwest of the island is as if it has been fixed in time.

A visit to Capdepera is like delving into the island’s past, with its Castle, the Iglesia de la Esperanza or the Torre de Canyamel cultural gems framed in incredible natural surroundings of rugged mountain ranges and dreamy coves: Cala Mesquida, Canyamel or Cala Ratjada.

Felanitx, traditional culture at its purest

If you head to the South, you’ll get to Felanitx. One of the towns biggest attractions is a number of typical ritual dances, dating back to 1603.

On the other hand, ‘Felanitx’ is synonymous of total peace and maximum tranquillity, both in its vineyards and stunning beaches.

Andratx, a dreamy valley in the east of Mallorca

We’re off to the east, specifically, a stunning town protected by magnificent pine and almond tree valleys in the Serra Tramuntana, the island’s most important mountain range.

In addition to its very important heritage, such as the Castillo de Son Mas or the Iglesia de Santa María de Andratx, dating back to the 18th century, there’s a special, charming spot you can’t miss out on: Sa Dragonera islet, declared a Natural Park in 1995.

Valldemossa, the town Chopin fell in love with

If this is your destination, you should know that it’s one of the island’s most iconic towns. Surrounded by mountains and olive groves, Valldemossa has stolen the hearts of very important figures such as Chopin and George Sand, who set up home there, as well as Rubén Darío, Borges or Jovellanos, among others.

Its incredible nature and cultural potential, with charming places such as the Ermita, the Casa de Santa Catalina Tomás or the Palau del Rei Sancho, make this town a unique and unforgettable place. Don’t leave without tasting the famous cocas de patata (a sweet treat made with potatoes, eggs and sugar).

Deià, an endless inspiration for some of the best writers

For many years, Deià has been a place of inspiration for writers including Gabriel García Márquez, Julio Cortázar or Robert Graves, who have spent long periods there.

Its beauty, location in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana and peaceful surroundings, make Deià a unique spot for concentrating and listening to the muses, who seem to have this beautiful Mediterranean town on their list of their favourite places and to which they often give in.

For the others, without so many artistic aspirations, it’s a place that leaves nobody indifferent, as it mixes an almost wild nature with the urban heart of great architectural beauty.

Port of Pollença, a beautiful, lively town

Pollença is located in the North of the island. It’s definitely busier than the other towns mentioned, because of its lively port, long promenade and what seem like endless beaches. Bike rides, pine trees and an ice cream on the promenade at sunset! It’s no surprise that many locals choose this spot or their summer break.

There are also quieter spots, such as Cala de Sant Vicenç, an incredible place with calm waters and incredible prehistoric caves.

A route around the towns in Mallorca is definitely a safe bet, as the different destinations on the island are of great natural splendour, heritage and cultural value and a varied, top-class leisure offering.
