Alcúdia Port (Puerto de Alcúdia) in Mallorca is one of the most popular tourist areas on our island and one of the favourite summer destinations for Mallorcans, thanks to its positioning, its long promenade, its large expanse of sand, and its lack of high-rise buildings.

How to get to Alcúdia Port from Palma 

Let's start at the beginning: Alcúdia is one of the oldest towns in the Balearic Islands.

Located on the shores of the Mediterranean, it’s bordered by Pollensa, La Puebla, and Muro. It boasts a very beautiful medieval old town, as well as archaeological and historical remains such as the Roman Theatre of Pollentia, the Church of San Jaime, the Porta del Moll, and the Sa Bassa Blanca Museum. 

This town also has another major attraction: its beaches. Their crystal-clear waters have helped them become very popular with tourists.

The Port, with its bustling area of bars and shops, is one of the best places to visit in Alcúdia.

It's located on the north coast, and, even though its origin is Roman, there are no remains of port infrastructure from that period. The first records about its current infrastructure date back to the 18th century.

You can reach the Port of Alcúdia from Palma by bus, taxi or car.

Ferries also arrive daily with direct connections from Menorca and Barcelona.

What’s there to do in Alcúdia Port? 

The Port d’Alcúdia is Mallorca's second largest commercial port.

Its marina, known as Alcudiamar, is one of the most important leisure spots on the island. 

In fact, in Alcúdia Port you'll find plenty of bars, restaurants and shops, as well as the chance to enjoy water sports while admiring the beautiful views of the bay.

• Visiting the Albufera Nature Reserve

The Albufera Reserve has the largest reservoir in the Balearic Islands. 

Rich in flora, fauna and wetlands, complete with streams and lagoons, and, best of all, you can visit it free of charge.

You can get there by car (there's parking available) and then explore the park on foot or by bike.

• Doing water sports

If you're into water sports, in Alcúdia Port in Mallorca you can practice activities such as scuba diving, sailing, kite surfing, paddle surfing, and kayaking.

On the beach you'll find equipment shops and companies with specialised instructors and a wide range of activities.

• A boat trip around the bay

Booking a boat trip around the bay of Alcúdia is an experience that no one should miss. 

You'll be able to enjoy the tranquil waters in this stretch of the Mediterranean, reach difficult-to-access caves, and take a refreshing dip in the open sea.

Most of the excursions set sail from Alcúdia Port and run along the coast, offering fantastic panoramic views of the cliffs and beautiful coves.

Essential coves and beaches on your stay in Puerto de Alcúdia

The vast sandy area of the Bay of Alcúdia covers almost 5 kilometres (it's the largest on the whole island) and boasts a wide range of interesting beaches for a day out with the family.

One of the most outstanding is Alcúdia beach, which is very well equipped in terms of services and facilities.

There's also Playa de Muro, with its transparent waters and fine, soft, white sand, ideal for families with children thanks to its shallow waters. 

Can Picafort is another great beach in the bay of Alcúdia that you simply must visit if you’re looking for a quiet day out near the port.

• Coll Baix. An unspoilt beach, only reached by a dirt track, and located in a protected Area of Special Natural Interest.
• Sant Joan. A beach with coarse white sand, with all the amenities you could need.
• Sa Marina d'Alcúdia. A black sandy beach, not very busy and very close to the road.
• Alcanada or Aucanada. A stony beach about 3 km from Alcúdia Port, surrounded by pine trees, and not very crowded.
