Excursions in Majorca for all: family, friends…

A holiday on Mallorca is always a good idea: whether you’re travelling with your partner, friends or family, the island offers an endless range of leisure activities and places to visit. And out of all these options, if there’s one thing that leaves visitors to the largest of the Balearic islands open-mouthed in admiration it’s undoubtedly its incredible natural landscape.

The Serra de Tramuntana, officially listed as a World Heritage Site, is a mountain range suffused with scents of pine, holm oak and moss that offers a unique experience.

Today we want to highlight a walk in Mallorca that is suitable for both children and adults. The walk takes you along the ravine known as the Barranc de Biniarix, and departs from the village of Biniarix, near Sóller.

You can park at the entrance of the village and continue on foot; the stone steps will take you to an 18th-century open-air laundry and the Font D’en Det fountain. You’ll see it on arrival next to the asphalt road that rises on the left-hand side in the direction of Monnáber. Carry on going and next you’ll see a stone path, which is the starting point of the walk. If you’re going with very small children you can take the car up as far as the road, but the visit to the central part of the village makes it worth climbing the steps.

At the end of the path you’ll come to a section of broad cobbled steps leading up to the Serra de Tramuntana, almost 2,000 steps in all that take you towards the top and are easily manageable thanks to the incredible views and vegetation.

It’s an easy walk, with level areas for resting and playing; at rainy times you will find small waterfalls.
