Free tours in Mallorca are a fantastic option to get to know the lesser-known aspects and areas of the country. One of the advantages is that the local guides will offer their own perspective and give you their own personal experiences. You’ll be able to understand the history of the city and discover its best kept secrets.

This type of tour is an affordable and pleasant option to admire the uniqueness of every part of the island and get to know the activities that Mallorca has to offer in a special way.

The tours can last from 2 to 3 hours, and will take you into narrow streets or shops that you might never discover if it weren't for a local guide - a highly recommended experience!

Today, here at VIVA Hotels, we want to be your local guide. Come with us on a special free tour of Mallorca!

A free tour of Mallorca: Alcudia’s secrets

Alcudia is located in the northeast area of Mallorca. This medieval town has been declared a site of Historical-Artistic Interest and is listed as one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.

On this free tour you’ll be able to see its medieval walls, a symbol of this Mallorcan town, as well as the remains of the Renaissance wall.

For centuries, the wall was responsible for protecting the alcudiencs from possible attacks by invaders, thus allowing the development of the town, which became one of the most important in the Balearic Islands.

To climb up to it and have a more first-hand experience, we recommend that you go to an access point at the top of la Pau street or at the Mallorca gate.

The wall’s preserved gates (Mallorca and Moll) are another of Alcudia’s attractions, and, as you pass through them, the historical city centre opens up, revealing many beautiful monuments along its cobbled streets. Have a stroll and immerse yourself in everything you see! You’ll see some wonderful sights that you’d have never imagined.

When you're strolling around, don't forget to look up! The Renaissance windows of the stately façades, which blend harmoniously with the typical buildings of the area, will leave you speechless. The ones in the Can Torró library on Carrer Serra, for example, are certainly not to be missed.

The icing on the cake on this free tour of Mallorca is the Church of San Jaume, which is pretty much attached to the main wall and was originally conceived as a fortification... The Town Hall, located on Calle Mayor, is one of the most outstanding buildings thanks to its tower which boasts a magnificent clock, as well as its splendid bell tower.

Free Tours in Mallorca: Discover Palma!

The free tours in Mallorca are “free” in the sense that they don’t have a fixed price. At the end of the tour, each person gives the guide whatever they think the tour was worth, according to how satisfied they were with it.

In Palma, we can start our tour from the Parc de la Mar, near the lake, where we’ll get a beautiful view of the Cathedral of Mallorca.

As we go inside, we’ll be able to enjoy its Gothic style with beautiful rose windows and long columns, which will give us a wonderful feeling of openness.

If you take a tour of Palma's emblematic buildings, a visit to the Almudaina Royal Palace is a must. Its excellent location by the sea, right opposite the Cathedral, tells the story of the history of Mallorca, as its architecture is a fascinating fusion of the different cultures that have made their home there.

After this, we highly recommend that you immerse yourself in the historic city centre. You can stroll through narrow streets and admire its many outstandingly beautiful areas. Palma has courtyards in old stately homes that you shouldn’t miss, and you’ll see plenty of them as you stroll around.

In fact, in 19th century Palma there were as many as 600 manor houses.

The city of Palma has a rich history, and its emblematic buildings bear witness to this. On the free tours in Mallorca, we can get an interesting and even amusing perspective, as some of them focus on certain themes or specific places (a route through the Jewish quarter, a tour of the mysteries and legends of Palma, Bellver Castle).

They range from the more general tours to more specific ones, giving you a deeper and more fascinating tourist experience, which will help you remember them even more vividly.
