A very VIVA conversation with Xisco Lliteras

From a terrace, with the Mediterranean Sea and the Mallorcan mountains in the background, we can enjoy this interview with Xisco Lliteras and Andreu Genestra. They reflect on the past months of dealing with the pandemic, and how this situation has pushed us to discover new paths and to recover the passions that our daily routine had taken away from us.

Originally from Artà, Xisco Lliteras is the founder of Mallorca 312, the endurance race that attracts more than 8,000 cyclists every year as they ride the 312 kilometres around the island. Since he was young, Xisco has always had a close affinity with sport, and found it to be what really moved him in life.

After trying to carve out a career in tennis as a teenager, he began to discover other sports, and eventually fell in love with cycling. The peace he found there, the chance to reflect, and his appreciation of nature were what truly captivated him. With that idea in mind he created Mallorca 312, whose aim is to enjoy the island’s beauty while getting some great exercise in the open air:

"Outdoor exercise is the most genuine sport, in which you need nothing at all".

It has undoubtedly been a difficult year for sports competitions, but Xisco has a positive outlook, and believes that the changes they have had to make during the pandemic have made them stronger:

"What we have learnt, both myself personally, as a team, and also regarding my project, has been something that money just can’t buy. It has been a very positive experience.
