If you’re going on a family holiday in Majorca, it’s definitely an option to keep in mind. Why? Or even better, why not? Majorca has everything you need for unforgettable family holidays. It has everything from fine white sand to dreamlike coves, never ending culture and leisure activities, all specially designed to make sure the kids have a great time.

A quintet of ideas to have a great time with kids in Majorca

1- Visit the Sineu flea market

Sineu is a rural spot located in the centre of the island. It’s charming and offers a very special activity: the flea market on Wednesday. The main attraction for kids is the animal exhibition and there are also artisan items typical of the Balearic Islands, in addition to clothes, shoes and food.

2- A day at a water park

If you like to play it safe, a water park will definitely guarantee fun for all the family. In Majorca there are plenty of great options: Agualand in el Arenal, Western Park in Magaluf or Hidropark in Port d’Alcúdia. An alternative if you’re after something a little bit different is the aquarium and dolphinarium Marineland, in Calvià.

3- Boat trips

From Majorca you can take a boat to the smaller islands such as Formentera or Menorca, or around the Bay of Alcudia. This type of excursion is perfect when travelling as a family, as not only does it offer a wider range of places to visit and explore in the Balearic Islands, but also, what kids don’t enjoy a boat trip admiring the landscapes and sea life?

4- Catch the Sóller train

If you really want to surprise the kids, there’s nothing better than catching the Tren de Sóller in Palma and embark on a trip in its incredible period wagons. It’ll take you to the gorgeous town of Sóller and the port. The landscape is incredible, as is the ice cream in the town – perfect for reenergising.

5- Take a cultural route

There’s no reason why cultural visits should be boring for kids. The key is in choosing places which kids will find fun – it motivates and stimulates their imagination and curiosity.

In this sense, there are some very interesting places in Majorca, such as the Palacio Real de la Almudaina, with an incredible chivalric atmosphere, or the Castillo de Bellver, a perfect place to get stuck into medieval life.

The La Granja stately home is also worth a mention. It’s located in Esporles and has been converted into a theme park where you can experience the culture and tradition on the island.

To put the cherry on top of a fantastic Majorca family holiday, there’s nothing better than staying in a good family-friendly hotel such as those which form part of the Hotels VIVA group – always focused on the kids. These hotels have an incredible range of care and entertainment which achieves the perfect combination: fun for the kids and peace and relaxation for their parents and companions.
