There are so many beaches in Mallorca and both their beauty and incredible environmental value make it difficult to choose the best ones. However, based on criteria such as the quality of the water and the sand, landscape, variety of marine wildlife among others, we’ve managed to select those which, in our opinion, are the 20 best beaches in Mallorca.

The “Top 20” beaches in Mallorca

1- Cala Mesquida

Just 7km away from Palma de Mallorca, Cala Mesquida is considered one of the most stunning and tempting spots in Mallorca. It’s surrounded by dunes, pine trees and rocks, providing the perfect natural surroundings for an exquisite beach with incredible turquoise water. In 1991, it was declared a Natural Area of Special Interest by the Balearic Island Parliament, making it stand out from other beaches.

2- Playa de Muro

Located in the town of Muro, next to Alcudia, the Playa de Muro holds an important record: at no less than 6km long, it’s the longest sandy beach in Mallorca. It has easy access and numerous services, including plenty of activities for the kids, making it one of the favourite beaches for families.

3- Cala Agulla

Another beach in the Capdepera area with plenty of strong points: deep blue, clear water which is perfect for swimming and all kinds of water sports, a gorgeous beach and located in a natural area surrounded by pine trees and mountains which are very hard to beat.

4- Formentor

In the Formentor peninsula we can find this stunning beach. It’s very narrow but truly beautiful, surrounded by an abundance of pine trees which almost look as though they have been created to protect the bright white sand and the transparent water that’s so hard to forget.

5- Cala Molins

The fact that this beach is so close to Pollença and it has a magnificent port in the northeast of Mallorca are even more reasons why you should visit this small beach, that’s only 50m wide and stands out for its turquoise water and smooth sand.

6- Cala Millor

7- Illetas

Another small beach, in this case in the south east of the island, which is one of the best beaches as it’s very attractive and features two very famous beach clubs: Virtual Club and Las Terrazas.

8- Canyamel

Another stunning beach, very close to Capdepera, from which you can visit the famous Artá caves (just 500m away). Its spectacular colour contrast between the toasted tone of the sand and the turquoise sea is what will really stick with you.

9- Portals Vells

This beach is very popular among Mallorcan families thanks to its facilities and its caves: very pretty and fun to explore. Often, you’ll see some impressive yachts which come over to see them. It’s characterised by its fine sand.

10- Cala Rotja

A small cove which is home to diverse elements of stunning beauty: a small area of sand, rocks, steps to get in and out of the sea, very varied marine wildlife, etc.

12- Cala Ratjada

A magnificent cove close to a fishing port where you can enjoy all kinds of services. A place which fuses tranquillity and glamour.

13- Cala gat

A very calm area close to the Cala Ratjada port, completed by other, smaller surrounding coves, all of which are characterised by their peace and calm.

14- Son Serra de Marina

An unspoilt, sandy beach surrounded by dunes and with impressive views of the Bahia de Alcudia. It’s a paradise where you can enjoy the sun, kite surf or windsurf, as well as other water sports.

15- Cala Llamp

A landmark for lovers of diving. Its lack of sand is made up for by a pretty, natural pool. It also has a restaurant and bar.

16- Cala Estellencs

A stony beach with rocky caves which offer excellent qualities and incentives to dive and swim.

17- Cala Tuent

Its difficult terrain: it’s a small beach embedded in a cave with an inclined surface, makes it perfect for diving and windsurfing. However, it’s not appropriate for children.

18- Playa del Port de Pollença

A long beach equipped with good services. It’s a family-friendly beach but it’s also popular among experienced surfers thanks to its strong winds.

19- Cala Mondragó

This is a sandy bay located within a stunning natural park: Mondragó. This transforms it into one of the prettiest places on the east coast of the island. The kids love its fine, white sand.

20- Playa de Es Trenc

This beach measures an impressive 3.5km, making it the longest beach on the island. Its fine sand and turquoise water make you feel as though you’re in the Caribbean.

Hotels VIVA are located in the north of the island, making them perfect for visiting these beaches, all of which are considered the best in Mallorca.
