S’Albufera, perfect for bird watching

If you’re a wildlife lover, S’Albufera is a trip you cannot miss. Located in the Bahía de Alcudia, to the north of the island, S’Albufera is the perfect destination for hiking in Mallorca, as you’ll be able to explore the entire park easily on foot or by bike. We’d suggest you pack your binoculars, as you’ll be able to see endless bird species in their natural habitat.

Reserva de GalatzĂł, an excursion for the whole family

One of the best excursions in Mallorca is a day trip to explore many of the natural charms you can find at Reserva de Galatzó. It’s open every day from 10am to 6pm, except in winter, when it only opens on weekends, with the same opening hours.

During the excursion you’ll be able to see all kinds of animals, from ostriches to peacocks, and ducks, geese, deer, donkeys, goats, brown bears and many more. You’ll be able to enjoy a refreshing, summer dip in any of its many waterfalls.

Sa Dragonera, the famous refuge for wicked pirates

If you want to be in wild, natural surroundings, there’s no doubt that a boat trip to the island of Sa Dragonera is an alternative not to be missed. This island is very popular as it was a refuge for famous pirates, including Redbeard or Dragut.

The boat trip takes approximately 20 minutes. On the island, you’ll be able to visit the natural park museum, take a stroll along to one of its lighthouses, take a dip in the port or spot the famous lizards that inhabit the area. Don’t forget to take food and drinks if you’re planning on spending the day there.

Castillo Bellver (Bellver Castle), Spain’s only circular castle

One of the most popular excursions in Mallorca will let you explore the impressive Bellver Castle, a gothic-style castle that stands out for being the only circular castle in Spain. It’s worth a visit just for its views of Mallorca and the Serra de Tramuntana.

It’s located on a hill around 112 metres above sea level, in a gorgeous area surrounded by a forest. Constructed between 1300 and 1311, under orders from King James II, this building houses permanent exhibitions such as the Sala Jovellanos or the Despuig Collection.

Cuevas del Drach, one of the most-visited in the world

The Cuevas del Drach are the most impressive and spectacular caves you can visit, not only in Mallorca, but in the world. This is one of the island’s most important tourist attractions, as its impressive stalactites and stalagmites don’t go unnoticed.

During the guided visit you’ll be able to observe the large, underwater lake these caves hide. It’s known as Lake Martel. The route around the interior of the cave is around 1200m long, including a classical music concert and a boat trip around this lake.

Es Coll Baix, a pretty Mallorcan cove very close to Alcudia

Es Coll Baix, a pretty Mallorcan cove just 10km from Alcudia, is one of the best beaches in Mallorca. It’s 250m long and 75m wide and is a homage to the almost unspoilt nature, surrounded by wild splendour and stunning vertical stone walls. If you stay at our hotel VIVA Sunrise, we’d definitely recommend this excursion, as it’s right on our doorstep.

Cala Millor, one of Mallorca’s family-friendly beaches par excellence

Cala Millor has clear, shallow water and is one of those places that seems to have been created purely for a perfect, unforgettable family holiday. Located on the east coast of Mallorca, it’s a coastal complex with shallow water and all the services you could possibly need. The beach is 1.8km long, with fine sand and turquoise water and is the bustling heart of the area. However, it isn’t the only incentive to visit, as there is much more to do and see here in this part of the island, just 20 minutes from our magnificent hotel, VIVA Cala Mesquida Resort & Spa.

Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, the area in which this gorgeous beach is located, is a charming rural and traditional town with around 5000 inhabitants. In terms of its heritage, the Iglesia Parroquial de Sant Llorenç, a temple with the purest Baroque-Mallorcan characteristics going, its smooth, wide stone façade and square structure, stands out.

Playa de Muro. You can’t miss out on its four sections!

The fact that it’s close to two charming areas, Muro and Alcúdia, make Playa de Muro a very popular tourist area, with plenty to see and enjoy.

Playa de Muro isn’t just a beach, but four. Visiting its 4 sections is like embarking on a different trip each time. Section 1 is located just 3km from Playa del Port d’Alcudia and is the most popular area, with an endless offering of all types of hotels and restaurants. Section 2 is quieter, and almost a prelude to the Parque Natural de S’Albufera, with its sand dunes and pine forests which make up section 3. Finally, we come across a small urbanisation with a small but charming beach. This is section 4 and is known as Les Casetas de Capellans.

If you want to stay in these paradisiac surroundings, you’re in luck. It’s home to our hotel VIVA Blue & Spa.
