La historia de la isla se remonta hasta el 3500 a.C., año del que datan los restos más primitivos que se han encontrado Mallorca. Una de las más emblemáticas es el “Castell de Bellver”, una fortificación de estilo gótico construida en el siglo XIVpor el rey Jaime II. Este castillo podréis observar una vistas excelentes de la ciudad de Palma, el Puerto de Palma , la Sierra de Tramuntana y el Pla de Mallorca, gracias a su ubicación estratégica. El gran icono de Mallorca, la Catedral de Santa María de Palma de Mallorca, es conocida en la isla como “La Seu” y sin duda es una visita ineludible para todos los que llegan a la isla. La construcción de este edificio religioso se inició en 1229 y terminó en el año 1346, aunque los trabajadores que la construyeron siguieron trabajando en sus acabados hasta 1601 e incluso hoy en día se sigue reformando y restaurando cada poco tiempo. El estilo gótico levantino de la catedral junto con su ubicación cerca de la Bahía de Palma, sobre las murallas romanas y renacentistas que protegían la ciudad, la convierten en una catedral única en el mundo, por lo que en 1931 fue declarada Monumento Histórico-artístico.

Entre otros edificios de interés, también destacan el “Castell d’Alaró” que se encuentra en el municipio de Alaró, el “Castell del Santueri” situado en plena “Serra de Tramuntana” y el “Castell del Rei” en el Valle de Ternelles, dentro del municipio de Pollensa, a sólo unos minutos de nuestros hoteles en Alcúdia.

The living history of Mallorca
