The impressive triathlon circuit on Mallorca makes triathlon one of the island’s most notable sporting disciplines. Many triathletes take advantage of Mallorca’s charms to spend time training.  One of their favourite routes is Sa Calobra, located on the north western coastline of the island, in the Tramuntana mountains

Road to Sa calobra;
perfect for tourism and sport

Tourists also fall in love with the turquoise waters to be found lapping the area’s beaches, with the cove at Sa Calobra and the Torrent de Pareis both considered unmissable ports of call. Getting there is an adventure in itself for athletes, who can train by cycling, running or swimming.

  • Sa Calobra cove is relatively small, but it’s well worth getting to know its crystal-clear waters and, if you find a spot, it’s a very pleasant beach with showers and bathroom facilities. Tourist boats sailing from Port de Sóller go there. However, we recommend that you go in low season, which provides better conditions for training.

  • Meanwhile the Torrent de Pareis is a torrent originating in the Lluc mountains that traverses the sierra and ends up in the Mediterranean. The beach is slightly larger than the one at Sa Calobra, but it’s stony. This will not prevent you from having a good swim, however.

  • The cycle touring route in the Tramuntana mountains is a favourite among triathletes. “The green olive tree route” is a challenge of endurance, with steep slopes that will bring you into contact with both the roads and nature of the Balearic Islands.
