Majorca holidays: the best dates for visiting paradise

Written by Elisabeth Blue | May 17, 2019 9:03:06 AM

You’re absolutely sure. Mallorca is an island for visiting all year round: crystal-clear waters, walking, the finest Mallorca restaurants… a heady cocktail designed just for you! If you’re coming with kids, or with friends to play sport, or in romantic or relaxation mode, there’s an ideal time for discovering paradise. Take a look at your dates and your calendar and choose your week of Mallorca holidays!

Passion for sport: spring and autumn

If you love sport and you’re choosing the island for golf, hiking or cycling, you’re in luck. Mallorca hosts a large number of sports events for you to gauge your performance levels and encourage you to take part in endless activities. And best of all: a fascinating landscape providing the backdrop.

Spring and autumn tend to be the best seasons for sport on the island. The climate, the facilities and the conditions on offer for sport on Mallorca are unique. Mallorca is ideal for indulging yourself in relaxing holidays to the full, as well as practising your favourite sports and activities: triathlon, cycling, running, swimming, golf and exploring hiking trails, among many others.

On 2 June you can also take part in the International Triathlon at Cala Millor. Participants have the choice of two events: the Olympic triathlon over a distance of 51.3 Km. and a half-distance triathlon of 113 Km.

If your passion is running, you can enjoy Palma while striving for your personal best in the Mediterranean Marathon, which offers a marathon, half-marathon and 10 km race. It is held on 13 October.

At Hotels VIVA we give our full backing to sport and can offer accommodation specialising in a variety of events. The best place to rest and prepare yourself!

Holidays with kids: Easter and the summer

During the autumn half-term, at Easter and of course in the summer: you choose the dates of your holiday getaway to Mallorca with the family. Ready to go on a day trip? Easter is the perfect time of year for getting to know the imposing Sierra de Tramuntana at close quarters. The children will discover natural landscapes, fauna, flora, dry stone walls, delightful paths, rural estates and tiny settlements spread over a total of 63,084 hectares. The highest peaks of the Sierra de Tramuntana are Puig Major (1,445 m) and Puig de Massanella (1,348 m).

When it comes to activities, the list of possibilities is endless:  you can choose between going to visit the famous Drach caves, where you can also enjoy a music concert, a boat trip on an underground lake and paying a visit to the Majorica pearls.

From March to October you can visit Katmandu Park, a theme park with a water area, a children’s park, the K3 Climb and the Legend of Katmandu™.

Every year in the third week of May, this mediaeval fair is held where the entire populace dresses up and lives in Mediaeval style. Wooden shields and cloth draped over facades and balconies are on display; the market too is adorned with colourful streamers typical of the era.

Summer is the time to have fun, to ride down the slides at Hidropark and Aqualand and swim at the most family-friendly beaches. And family-friendly hotels? You’ll find them at Hotels VIVA:

Hotel VIVA Eden Lago offers a host of facilities for the little ones: pools, entertainment at the Mini Club and Maxi Club, mini golf, table tennis, archery and billiards; and at the Apartahotel VIVA Blue & Spa you’ll relax 100% while your kids have a great time on the pirate boat, with water games and children’s entertainment. Remember… your only obligation is to have fun!

Relax every time!

Any time is a good moment to get away from stress. Mallorca is special because you can relax on the island 365 days a year. Watching the sun go down with your partner is one of the island’s best and most romantic attractions. The Son Marroig viewpoint, in Sa Foradada, is a well-known place of pilgrimage for sightseers wanting to soak up the sky’s spectacular colours. Meanwhile the Formentor lighthouse, 20 km from the port of Pollença, is favoured by locals wishing to witness the sunset.

Many of Mallorca’s 261 beaches are deserted in springtime. This is the time for walking hand-in-hand, listening to the sound of the sea and stopping for a picnic. The best beaches for getting away from it all? Cala Sa Pedruscada is on the small side, stony, with fishing boats and ideal for switching off; Cales de Betlem is made up of various small coves that are rarely visited and very peaceful; and Cala Gossalba, a natural gem: small, tucked away and heavenly. It is rather hidden, making it somewhat difficult to reach, and this is what makes it unique.

Accommodation and relaxation: 2 in 1. The Balneum Spa & Wellness centres at Hotels VIVA are temples of wellbeing: full-on pampering, wellness zones, massages, 100% natural treatments and plenty more besides.

Any time is good for coming to enjoy your Mallorca holidays! Are you feeling inspired?
