Travel on the Sóller Train
If you’re travelling to Sóller it’s almost obligatory to take a trip on its old wooden train, laden with history. The line was built in 1912 and has retained the same appearance since its inauguration, connecting Sóller with the Plaza de España in Palma. Stretching over 28 km, with a journey time of approximately one hour, the line passes through more than a dozen tunnels and unforgettable landscapes.
You’ll cross the Tramuntana mountain range, passing through the settlements of Son Sardina and Bunyola and going through a tunnel that crosses the Sierra d’Alfàbia. Before reaching the Sóller valley, the train sometimes pauses for a while so you can enjoy a panoramic view of the entire town.
The heart of Sóller lies in this square, which constitutes an invitation to conduct a culinary and cultural tour enabling you to visit the finest bars and sample tapas with your friends and family. If you catch the Sóller tram, which connects the town with the port de Sóller, it will leave you right in the middle of this square, where you’ll have the finest views of the modernist church of Sant Bartomeu.

Cycle touring on Coll de Sóller
If you’re a sports lover, and a lover of cycling up mountains in particular, you mustn’t miss the Coll de Sóller. This is a mountain pass that connects Pla de Mallorca and the Sóller valley, between the mountains of Alfabia and the Sierra de Tramuntana. At the top of the route, which is 22 km in length and almost 900 metres high, you’ll be able to soak up the remarkable views of the bay of Palma.
Every Saturday Sóller plays host a market, where you’ll find traditional, local and artisanal products. If you love hunting down original mementoes of every culture you visit in this case the traditions of Mallorca it represents an authentic paradise.
When you’re in the town of Sóller you can set off on the Dry Stone Route (Ruta de Pedra en Sec), also known as “GR221”, which runs from Port d’Andratx to Pollença. It is 90 km in length and crosses the Tramuntana mountain range. Among the features that you’ll come across are wells, water channels and lime kilns. You’ll get the most out of this path from spring onwards, summer included, because there are various areas where you’ll benefit from a certain degree of shade.
