One of the most beautiful and magical times of the year is fast approaching: Christmas. And, in Mallorca, you’ll see of its most special traditions - its Christmas markets. They’re ideal for visiting with family or friends, and you can try some typical seasonal dishes there, as well as buying some last-minute gifts, and enjoying the decorations and lights that make the city so magical.

Here at Hotels VIVA we want to tell you about 5 Christmas markets that you mustn’t miss if you visit Mallorca during the festive season.

Pueblo Español Christmas market

This market can be found in the Son Dureta area, and the building is impressive enough in itself. But when we add the Christmas spirit and the lights, it becomes a truly magical place. If you want good food and drink, then this is one of the Christmas markets in Mallorca that you simply must visit.

It is, in many ways, one of the most traditional markets, with more than 100 stalls and many different activities for the kids. They can visit Father Christmas, leave him their Christmas wish lists, and have their photos taken with him.

The Pueblo Español Christmas Market is open from 3rd December to 2nd January. Admission costs 7 euros for adults and 2 euros for children and includes a glass of mulled wine or hot chocolate and parking.

Santa Ponça Christmas market

This market is designed in the style of the best German markets, and decorated according to the traditions of that country. The wooden huts decorated with lights and mulled wine are the highlights of this Christmas market in Mallorca.

It’s one of the free Christmas markets in Mallorca, and it’s open every day from 27th November to 19th December. Every Tuesday and Thursday after 6 pm, there’s a chance to do some Lego building, and, on December 6th, Father Christmas will come to the area for the children to visit him.

Puerto Portals 

This is one of the most famous Christmas markets in Mallorca because of its ice skating rink. It opens its doors from the 16th of December until the 6th of January and you can visit it from Monday to Friday from 12.00 to 9 pm, and on weekends from 12.00 to 10 pm.

This market doesn’t only offer a great selection of food, with typical dishes, especially from Germany, but it also has many craft and gift stalls, Christmas carols, decorated stalls, children's workshops, the visit of Father Christmas, and the Three Wise Men's parade.

Son Amar Christmas market

Between the 3rd and 12th of December, House of Son Amar becomes one of the best Winter wonderlands on the island, reflecting the Christmas spirit down to the smallest detail. Here you’ll find everything from typical winter gastronomic offerings, to an ice skating rink for the whole family to enjoy.

There’ll be plenty of hot chocolate at the Son Amar Christmas market, and Santa Claus will be there too. Kids (and maybe adults too!) will be able to enjoy his company, have their photos taken, and hand him their Christmas wish lists.

This is one of the Christmas markets in Mallorca where you’ll need to book ahead, as it’s only open from Friday to Sunday. You can book on the website, by email, or by phone. Admission is 5 euros for adults and children go free.

Santanyí Christmas market

Located in Manuel de Falla street, this Christmas market in Mallorca will be open from 26th November to 9th January from Monday to Sunday, until 11 pm. It’s one of the most traditional Christmas markets in Mallorca, with events and activities for the whole family.

At this market you’ll be able to enjoy the island's wines, live music, and a great Christmas atmosphere. Without a doubt, this is a great place to buy Christmas decorations, both for the tree and for the house, as well as Christmas wreaths.
