Mallorca is an island that offers incredible Mediterranean vegetation and a surprising variety of routes for hikers.

Whether around the coast or the inland parts of the island, the landscapes and strong sense of contact with nature that one feels when exploring its more hidden features are unlikely to leave anyone indifferent. A walking tour of Mallorca is synonymous with beauty at its purest. What’s more, its mild climate makes it an exceptional setting all year round.

At Hotels VIVA, as a chain specialising in family hotels, hotels for athletes and adults only hotels, we have created a selection of hiking routes which we offer you as a downloadable guide so you can complete your walk without getting lost. Because if there’s something that all our guests have in common, it’s undoubtedly love for this island and the desire to immerse themselves in it.

Within our guide you’ll find walking routes of varying levels. We also take this opportunity to offer you some new alternatives:

  • Puig de Massanella

This is one of Mallorca’s most eye-catching mountains, and although a hiking route that requires greater physical fitness, does not present too many difficulties. The route starts from Sierra de Tramuntana and continues uphill, passing by a rocky wall until reaching a plateau where you’ll be able to revel in spectacular views of the entire island of Mallorca, especially towards Puig Major, the Cúber reservoir and Alcudia bay.

Even on clear days you can see the entire Balearic archipelago, including the outline of Menorca. This route’s ascent starts from Coll de Sa Batalla or at the Iluc Sanctuary and you can ascend by Comafreda or Font de S’Avenc. At the summit there’s a natural well some 20 metres in depth.

Both the start and the return journey are a veritable adventure, with a length of 11 km and a duration of approximately seven hours. It is designed for experienced walkers and it’s recommended that you wear safe, anti-slip footwear.

  • Ermita de La Victoria

One of the most beautiful walking routes on Mallorca is the one that takes you to the Natural Area of Cap del Pinar. This walk sets off from Alcudia, continuing by Bonaire via the Mal Pas path, followed by the track of La Victoria and l’illot. Once you reach the summit of the mountain, you’ll end up falling in love with the views of the Bay of Pollença and the Cape of Formentor.

  • Puig de Sant Martí

This mountain is located in the district of Alcudia and is one of the preferred hiking routes for tourists and locals alike. The reason: the finest views that are possible to obtain of the Bay of Alcudia and the Bay of Pollença. Moreover, if you walk round the other side of the mountain you’ll find a panoramic view of Pla de Mallorca and Albufera.

The walk does not end at the top of the mountain, because you can visit the natural spaces of the Sant Martí cave. These places are packed with history with structures in mediaeval and gothic styles.

  • Cala Mesquida to Cala Agulla

Naturally, Mallorca’s finest hiking routes would not be complete without at least one offering the charms of its coves. This route is one of the simplest and most spectacular, where you’ll discover two of the island’s most beautiful beaches with crystal-clear waters, setting off from Cala Agulla to Cala Mesquida.

This is a circular walk that can be completed in approximately four hours. You’ll be able to appreciate the dunes of Mallorca, the incredible views of the Levante Natural Park, the Son Jaume tower, the celebrated pine forests and even have a swim at one of the beaches on the walk. We recommend doing this walk in the low season.

  • Sierra de Tramuntana

The Sierra de Tramuntana represents a natural paradise for all those who know it. One of the most popular walks is the one that sets off from the Son Perot farm to the S’Avenc de Son Pou cave, with a path packed with natural spaces and even a waterfall. There’s no shortage of Mallorcan magic on this walk!

The route is approximately 4 km in  length and two hours in duration, and is easily accessible for those looking for a family-friendly activity.

At Hotels VIVA we offer a selection of hotels that are strategically situated for aficionados of hiking on Mallorca. From the vicinity of the hotel you’ll be able to access an endless array of incredible walks.
