Organising a trip can be a very tricky task, especially if it’s a short family getaway. A family getaway means organising things in such a way that your children don't get bored, finding a variety of different activities for each part of the day.

If you’re thinking of travelling with children to the island, then you’ve come to the right place. At VIVA Hotels, we’ll give you the best advice on how to organise a trip to Mallorca as a family, and we’ll also tell you about the different activities you can do on your short getaways with the kids. Are you ready?

Everything you should know about traveling with children

Even though many people avoid organising family trips, it’s been shown to be a great activity to connect with your kids in a new area, and have some great bonding times. We recommend that all family members participate in the planning. In that way, you can tailor make the trip to the needs and tastes of each individual.

Even the youngest members can vote on which activities interest them most and feel that the trip is for them too. Time is limited on short getaways, and so we recommend having a list of possible activities to choose from so that you can decide much quicker.

When planning a family trip, certain rules should also be established, such as deciding what to do if a child gets lost, and other measures to help you travel with a greater peace of mind with small children. Before you travel, we recommend you make a list of everything you need to take with you and pack lightly, especially on short getaways, as you don’t need to take so much on these types of trips.

After establishing the rules, it's time to organise your trip to Mallorca by checking out the different activities you can do as a family to have great fun together and create unforgettable memories.

Enjoy family time on the beach

One of the most important pieces of advice when travelling to Mallorca is to take advantage of its natural surroundings. On the island, you’ll find spectacular landscapes to enjoy with the whole family and for kids to explore. Choose a hotel that’s very close to the beach, or even in the middle of a forest, to create a magical and unforgettable trip, with lots of fun activities.

But, without a doubt, one of the favourite activities for all types of families is to visit Mallorca’s spectacular beaches. The beach of Muro, for example, is ideal for children, as its waters are shallow. We also recommend Port de Pollença, one of the most popular family destinations on the island, which offers a wide range of activities, beaches, bars, and restaurants.

Activities for water lovers

Besides the spectacular beaches on the island, there are other activities and places that families can visit for some guaranteed water fun. Discovering the impressive marine life of the island is sure to be interesting for both children and adults. You can do this through snorkelling excursions or by visiting the Palma Aquarium.

This aquarium, with its interactive pool, allows visitors to touch the fish and learn about the place’s marine life. This aquarium also houses the largest shark tank in Europe and a beautiful garden with a play area and even a pirate ship for the children.

However, if you’re looking for an adrenaline rush, then Aqualand, Mallorca's largest water park, is a surefire hit. Here, you’ll find more than 10 slides and a variety of themed pools for the whole family. This park is a perfect place to spend the whole day, as it has plenty of rest areas, along with jacuzzis and restaurants.

Have a real adventure on the island

In order to explore the island’s natural surroundings, and discover spectacular landscapes, family excursions are the best option. On the island of Mallorca there are many outdoor options for travelling with children, especially in the spring or summer seasons.

Horse riding on the beaches of Mallorca is an ideal plan for families who love a bit of adventure. We also recommend that you visit Jungle Park, which is full of adventure. Here you’ll find climbing routes for all ages and abilities. The whole park is designed so that you can climb for about an hour, without touching the ground, throughout the forests of Mallorca. Jungle Park is a perfect place to hang out with the whole family and enjoy great scenery.

Enjoy Mallorca with your kids

On our island, you can enjoy many different plans for a completely unique family holiday. Organising a trip to Mallorca is an activity for the whole family which everyone is sure to enjoy. However, you don’t need to plan every minute of the trip, as travelling with children also requires knowing how to improvise!
