The 25th of April 2020 will be a big day for cycle tourism. One of the most highly anticipated and spectacular cycling events will take place on this day: The Mallorca 312. A truly unique challenge, consisting of completing a 312 km route in just 14 hours. And Hotels VIVA is one of the event's sponsors.

It's clear that this is a race with all of the appeal, making it a treat for those who are passionate about cycling. Starting and ending in the same spot as our hotel VIVA Blue & Spa specialising in triathletes at Playa del Muro beach, going through Sierra de Tramuntana, one of the most breathtaking landscapes on the island, with 5,050 metres of changes in elevation -which is why we'd recommend getting fit.

Next year will be the tenth edition

This cycle tourism event is hugely popular and attracts around 8.000 participants yearly. It's very well organised: check points, bike maintenance, free massages and physiotherapy as well as medical assistance if you have any mishaps.

If you want to have this amazing experience, push yourself to sign up, since each year the open spots disappear in just a few days. You can do so following this link.

Choose the most suitable route for your physical fitness

Once of the biggest advantages of the race is that you can choose one of three different routes, each one with a different distance and difficulty level:

  • Mallorca 167. The easiest route because it shortens the return trip, starting in Esporles and passing through Alaró, Lloseta, Selva and Campanet.

  • Mallorca 225. The route is quite similar to the previous one, except that it adds more kilometres heading west. It passes through Banyalbufar and reaches Andratx before returning to the starting point, passing through Puigpunyent and Esporles.

  • The Mallorca 312. This is the longest and most demanding option, since 87 hard kilometres are added to it. In addition to other interest points, it goes through Sa Pobla, it heads east and reaches the municipality of Artá, located in the east.

There are some limits for finishing the routes, set at 10 hours for the first two and 14 hours for the last one.

Regardless of the route you finally choose (by the way, this is something that you can decide, even on race day), all of the itineraries start and end at Playa de Muro

And that's right where you'll find the official hotel of the Mallorca 312, VIVA Blue & Spa, an ideal hotel for doing cycle tourism for these key reasons:
